Going out on a hiking adventure is one of the best ways to give your body a workout, but if you do not take the proper precautions when hiking, you could end up using a lot more energy than you should at once – and this will leave you feeling worn out (and possibly even sick!) instead of leaving you feeling refreshed and replenished. You need to make sure you know the proper ways to keep up your energy when you are hiking, and then you need to make sure you stick to these “proper ways” so that you can give your body a great workout – without giving your body more than it can handle! If you want to keep up your energy while hiking, the first step will be making sure you have on the right gear; most importantly of all, when it comes to gear, you should have hiking boots that are sturdy and comfortable, as this will keep your legs and your back from taking too much strain. You also need to make sure you select a trail that you will be able to handle; do your research before you go hiking, and if the trail is rated as “difficult,” consider trying something different (unless you truly feel that you are physically up for a “difficult” trail!). As you hike, it will also be necessary for you to replenish your body; bring Clif Bars with you so you will have something healthy to snack on, and bring lots of water with you so that you can constantly restore what you lose from sweating. Lastly, be prepared to take frequent breaks from your hike as you learn to listen to what your body is telling you - and remember, it is much better to take breaks when you are starting to feel tired than to wait until you are exhausted to pause from your trek! When you put all these things together, you will be able to enjoy all the tremendous benefits of hiking, without being stuck with negative side effects that come from not taking proper care of yourself during your adventure!
