Before you can move forward with your planning, you will need to first make sure you know what your budget is; if you are a bride whose parents are paying for some or all of the wedding, get an exact figure from them, and if you are paying for the wedding yourself, or if you are having to supplement some of the costs, figure out exactly how much you project yourself to have.
Although the budget may change a bit, once you have a fairly firm idea of the budget, you should move onto taking care of the two most important “early” things – the venue and the wedding dress; once you have found the venue and have selected the wedding dress, you will know exactly how much you have left in your budget for the remainder of the planning.
Lots of brides tend to mess up at this point, as they take the remainder of their budget and just start spending, but the best thing to do at this point is to start shopping around, making notes of everything you like. When you do this, you will eventually be able to make decisions on all these purchases that are not time-sensitive, and you will not end up in a position where your budget is suddenly gone because you just started spending money on everything you liked!
